Application procedures

Complete the Individual Electronic Application
When you select the Open an Account button, you will be asked to establish a username and password at the beginning of the process so that all the information you enter will remain secure. While most customers will complete their application in a fully electronic fashion, we are sometimes required to receive paper documents which should be forwarded to the addresses listed under Contact Us/Document Submission Information on the website.

Fund Account
You must contact your bank to initiate an electronic transfer.

Complete the Deposit Instruction on the Cash Transfers page in Account Management/Funds Management. You must instruct your bank to include your account name and number on the transfer. Specific transfer instructions and addresses will be displayed during the Deposit Instruction process. If we do not receive your funds in 45 days from approval the account will be closed.

Time to Arrive
From immediate to 4 business days, depending on your bank. Non-U.S. banks are generally at the longer
end of the range. Credit to account is immediate upon arrival.

Limitations
You may not withdraw your funds for 3 business days.

Application Review
We will review your application for approval once your entire application has been completed. Your
application is completed, once there are no outstanding application tasks listed under Login/Complete Application. Occasionally after you have completed the application we could be required to take additional steps. You will be notified of this by email and within Finish Application, located in the Login drop-down list in the upper right corner of the homepage.

Application Review Results
You will be notified of the results by email and within Login/Complete Application of the results of our application review. Fully completed applications will be processed within 48 hours (business day hours) under normal business conditions.

Trade
Once we have received your funds, you may begin to trade. Funds received by 16:00 ET are available for trading the next business day under normal business circumstances. The latest status of your deposit or transfer may be found under Funds Status in Login/Account Management.

IMPORTANT: You should carefully review in depth the IB userguide, quickstarter guide and demo’s on how to use the Trader Workstation and etc., before you begin to trade. Once your account is funded you will receive a paper trading account to simulate trading, with live data.
